No, you need to pass your 12th exam with 45% minimum in open category and 40% in reserved category. You usually have to give an undertaking that your admission will stand cancelled if you don't clear compartment exams. Other than that as far as I can remember only NLSUI Bangalore and 1-2 NLUs ask for marks in first attempt. For most NLUs you could apply, at least in 2011.You should probably consult the CLAT brochure or website for the latest eligibility criteria.
