Yes you can opt for the correspondence course for B.Tech mechanical engineering and you should start your internship in a good company or a job if possible because till the time you will complete your B.Tech , you will have approx 4 years of practical work ex with the B.Tech degree. Correspondence B.Tech degree alone will be of no use to you
