BCA is a technology based degree program that a student can pursue after successfully completing 12th. BCA is a very demanding course as all the concepts and topics taught are very new for the candidate and require a lot of time and investment. Irrespective of whether you pursue the course through regular mode or distance the efforts required to keep up with the syllabus will be similar. Polytechnic diploma courses are also quite detailed hence completing both course simultaneously will prove to be very demanding. There is also no point of investing time in two course as down the line your degree program will be given preference over the diploma and just because of the added burden you might compromise on your BCA performance. Therefore, it remains a wiser choice to pursue BCA individually and if possible you should try to option for chances where you can pursue the BCA course through regular mode giving you better learning environment and practical exposure.

Theoretically, one can pursue BCA by distance learning and Diploma in engineering from polytechnic simultaneously provided you have joined Diploma in Engineering after 10+2 from a recognized educational board as this will meet eligibility criteria for doing BCA. If you are not doing computer science Diploma in engineering then there may not be any direct benefit in doing BCA by distance learning. BCA is a 3 years degree course and requires lot of effort. Therefore, doing two technology courses simultaneously will be very taxing and you may spoil both the courses. You are advised to do lateral entry B.Tech after Diploma in engineering for long term career growth. If you have 10+2 educational qualification, you may directly enroll for BCA. After BCA you can pursue MCA-M.Tech-PhD, etc. Therefore, you are advised not to pursue Diploma in Engineering from a Polytechnic and distance BCA simultaneously.
