BCA-Bachelor of computer application is a 3 year degree program that helps one build the fundamentals of the computer application with detailed knowledge of computer language programming and application. It comprises of the subjects like database, networking, data structure, core programming languages like C and java. This course provides a lot of opportunities to the students who are interested in computer field and wants to work in the IT sector as programmer or software developer. In the terms of the growth prospects of a candidate after BCA, the best step is to look out for various job opportunities, but considering that the degree is through distance mode the platform available would be limited to the small scale industries. The experience will then create scope for further growth that would require one to purse a PG, MCA being the most preferred program after BCA can be completed. The Mode of MCA is decided basis the experience and the institute that you wish to apply. Pursuing MCA after a distance BCA is definitely worthwhile as one will have further chance of placements and salary growth. Not only will you officially grow in qualification but the added knowledge will give greater benefits.

BCA is a job oriented degree course and you can go for a job immediately after BCA in small and medium-sized IT companies. Unfortunately, Indian IT industry does not prefer BCA for entry level Developer and Testers roles. BCA graduates may get a junior developer or application support jobs. Indian IT industry prefers regular BCA candidates over candidates with BCA by distance learning. However, once candidates get 3 to 4 years experience, type of degree does not matter much. Candidates who have completed BCA by distance learning from a recognised university are eligible to seek admission in regular MCA. MCA and M.Sc computer science/IT graduates are treated on par with B.Tech computer science and B.Sc IT graduates for application development and maintenance jobs in Indian IT industry. For a long-term and meaningful career, it is advisable to do MCA from a prestigious college or university.
