There is no information technology or computer science cadre in government. However, both central and state governments hire software engineers on need basis by publishing advertisements regularly in leading newspapers. There are some government undertakings which hire software engineers regularly such as NIC, CDAC, NISG, etc. Majority of PSUs hires software engineers. R&D organisations such as DRDO, ISRO, CSIR, etc. also hire software engineering graduates. Graduate IT and CSE engineers are hired by armed forces and paramilitary forces. In addition to these as graduate engineer you are eligible to appear for all government jobs where eligibility is graduation degree. Graduates IT/CSE engineers can also join public sector banks.
