Surely, you can. The polytechnic institutes open their admissions with other high schools and junior colleges after 10th board results. You can apply to these institutes to get a diploma in engineering. The branches offered are same as that in degree. If you complete diploma, you are eligible for admission to engineering colleges directly to second year. But this rule applies only for some of the state universities. You can't get into reputed institutes like IITS and NITs through diploma. So, I would suggest you to study 11th and 12th and appear for JEE work hard and get into a good engineering college for a degree. The chances of getting a job directly after diploma are very low (you have to be top of your class for that). Even the demand for diploma engineers is decreasing daily. So, go for science stream and appear for JEE or any state CET. All the best.

There are two ways to pursue diploma. One is immediately after 10th and the other one is after 12th. Definitely, the students who have passed the 10th exams are eligible to apply for the diploma admissions. The merit list is put up based on the percentage marks obtained by the students who have applied. After 12th, many students who don't score enough marks/percentage in either of JEE Mains or state CET exams and 12th standard state board exams, generally opt for doing diploma based on their 10th standard board examination marks. But in this case, these students waste the two crucial years of their life. Another option being, if you want to take admission to diploma after 12th standard and your marks/percentage in HSC board examinations are good enough, then you can get the admission directly to second year. But in this case also, if you think of it, you still waste your one year which can be avoided if you do your diploma studies right after completing 10th. Conclusion of this story would be that you can get admission to diploma after 10th standard as well. So, you need to study hard for scoring well in SSC (10th standard) board examinations to secure your seat for diploma.
