Do you need to be an extrovert to become successful in a mass communication career?

Gone are the days when people thought this field is only for extroverts. Not everyone who is associated with this field has to travel or has to be the face of the camera, there are domains that requires you to remain seated at your desk. All those dialogues that you fall in love with when Tyrion Lannister speaks on Game of Thrones, is the work of talented scriptwriters who work behind the screens to make the character come alive. So those who say that introverts should not apply to this field, however, that is just a myth. If you are someone who can think out of the box, have a flair for writing, good command in language and even if that means you are an introvert, then voila! You shouldn't be giving a second thought before joining the field of mass communication. You can become a journalist or a writer even if you are an introvert.

Mass communication is not only about facing the camera, it is a lot more than that. Yes, one has to be outgoing when he/she thinks of certain fields such as anchoring, reporting or acting. Basically the field that involves interacting with the masses or travelling but there are also other things to be considered like the TV series we like, the movies we enjoy, radio programmes we tune in daily and the news bulletin that keeps us updated. This is the final product we see or listen or read and it is the outcome of different steps involved. Professionals work day and night to make it happen. It comes all to the point of being good at what you do and being introvert is not a hindrance in the way. One can go for editing, photography, writing, camera handling, cinematography and advertising.
