Yes, CCNA is the most basic level certification but as you can stand out of a crowd of plain vanilla engineers, it certainly helps you get noticed for internships and short-term projects. But, please be clear that it is not going to yield any long-term benefits on its own. Assuming you have a good technical degree (B.Tech, B.Sc) to back your credentials, you might have to go for more advanced certifications as you progress. See, career is a marathon and not a sprint, hence you need to ameliorate all along and if you intend to stay in the world of routers and switches, CCNP is more desirable in my opinion. That said, for the first break, CCNA is decent.
