Does it make more sense to go for a general MBA or an MBA with a specialization?

When MBA started there was no such specialization was there. But time passed and now corporate sector are looking for experts and specialized candidates it is make more sense to do an MBA with specialization. Specialization nowadays categorizes your skill whether you are good in marketing, managing people I.e. HR, or managing wealth i.e. finance. So always go with the specialization of your interest rather than general MBA. Specialization will give you in depth knowledge of the subject which will help you with your job and your internships as well. Nowadays dual specialization is also getting boost in market. Specialization will make you focus on particular field so you would have a great chance to shine in your interested field. Observing the current scenario and market situation, going for General MBA is better than taking up specialization because initially coming from a diversified background such as B.Tech and B.Sc, you don't have much idea of fields like finance, marketing, operations or HR so it's better that, initially, you understand each and every field and then opt for a course depending on your interest and strength and also by taking general MBA, rather than the specialization, you would get to learn about all the fields of MBA and that would help you in an organization in a way that you will be able to deal with the basics of each and every field with ease. So, it's better to go with general MBA.

In the current market scenario it is more preferable to go for General MBA rather than specialization in MBA from the very beginning itself. General MBA gives you insights about all the important fields of MBA ranging from marketing, finance, operations and human resource. Getting to learn more about all of them would be a better exposure and will lead to a balanced career this is because you can give all the aspects of market. While going into a streamlined field will not let you to expose to all other important fields. There are cases sometimes when you don't even know in which field your strength lies hence it will be an advantage to go for general field first and get insights about all fields and then choose your specialization according to your choice and strengths for better implementation and application in the corporate world.
