All the branches are more or less Similar in difficult levels and it totally depends upon your approach and mindset and how well versed you are with basic fundamentals. Mechanical branch is the core branch and would certainly require more focus. The field of engineering is huge. You listed four yet there are many more. Engineering is not always fiscally rewarding out of the GATE and can take years to gain a salary to justify the education. This means you need a passion for your chosen subject. A form of kinship nearly as, frankly, it will be an uphill struggle at times. Overall with concentrated good efforts and maintaining very good dedication will make any branch easier, just your basic fundamentals need be cleared , you can also take up coaching institutes which woild help you out. Mechanical shall remain evergreen branch with abundant job opportunities in manufacturing sector with huge demand overseas and in emerging economies. So, choose wisely and accordingly make it the easiest branch to manage.

In all the branches, the best branch is the chemical engineering. As, in this branch there is no need of going to the clients and demand for the fund. This is the only branch, where you only have to do research in the labs only.

Nothing is easy and nothing is difficult amongst these four branches of engineering. It all depends on the fact that whether you are into that branch by your wish or your parents wish. If it is the former case, trust me, nothing will be difficult in engineering for you as everything will be of your interest. But if at all it is the latter case, then you will definitely face too many difficulties in engineering career (I don’t want to demoralize, but this is the fact). Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering are the branches that need the knowledge of Physics (especially Mechanics). But don’t get scared if you are weak at physics in your 12th standard. Because, when you get into your respective branch, you get the detailed knowledge of it. Electrical Engineering needs the knowledge of physics and mathematics. But the same point applies here as well. Chemical Engineering and Civil Engineering needs the basic knowledge of Environmental Engineering. So, basically, it’s your interest which is going to decide the difficulty level of the stream of engineering that you are going to get admitted into!
