Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati Placement provided with reputed companies, offering average salary package of 15 LPA for B.Tech courses. Ranked 11th among 'Top 100 Engineering Institutes for Research and Teaching' in India by National Institutional Ranking Framework (MHRD) in 2016. MoU's with various National/ International Universities/ institution like University of Helsinki, Spiber Technologies, for academic and research collaboration. Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati Biotechnology placements key statistics : Total Number of Students Registered : 21 Total Offers made by Companies : 23 Total Number of Students Placed : 19 Overall placement percentage : 90 In the recent years, placements in core have declined due to the new hiring policy of PSUs, but in 2017, many students from Biotechnology, ECE, EEE and mechanical got core jobs. Overall, it is good.

IITs are the premier engineering institutes. IIT-Guwahati is one of the old IITs and lakhs of students try to get admission here every year. According to the National Institute Ranking Framework, IIT-Guwahati ranks 7th among all engineering colleges in India which is a pretty good rank. Bio-technology Engineering at IIT-Guwahati is pretty good. For Biotechnology Engineering, in 2015 out of 38 students who applied to placements from Biotechnology department, 21 students were placed meaning 55 percent placement for Biotechnology which is an okayish impressive number. The average salary was around 6 LPA and the maximum salary was around 10 LPA. All these figures suggest pretty good placements at IIT-Guwahati. For the entire placement report, open the first link:

The Biotechnology department of IIT-Guwahati is pretty good in terms of infrastructure and placements. Being an IITian, you are entitled to a lot of facilities which most colleges aren't able to provide. Biotechnology Engineering students fit into the following categories in the industry: IT sector/consultancies Bio-Pharma Business Analytics Computational Biology & Bioinformatics FMCGs Agro and Food Processing R&D in Life Sciences Biomedical Industry Intellectual Property Biochemical Industry Though fewer than most engineering branches, IIT-Guwahati provides more biotechnology core companies than most colleges. IIT, Guwahati is a well established and a renowned institution known for its excellent and effortless work. The biotechnology is a field full of research and limitless possibilities one need to see when choosing the career. The biotechnology can be seen as a modern and a complete fusion of bio and techno which is serving to the best to achieve a balanced and happy society which hides a thorough research and hard work behind it. When it comes to placement, the placements are quite good in average though the institute stills lack behind in terms of the high pay scale for the undergraduate. While coming to placement stats the average package is about Rs 7 lakhs to Rs 8 lakhs and the highest package is around Rs16 lakhs to Rs 20 lakhs per annum. Most of the people get indulge in research activities and private clinic setups and perform well in that. Being the students of the premier institute, students get placed in big corporates and global corporations but the most important factor which works is their self and whole hearted dedication.
