1. The labs are well equipped. 2. Not only teachers but also lab assistants are very knowledgeable and supportive. 3. You will be welcomed by faculties if you have a very good research proposition. 4. As for placements, the scenario has improved a lot compared to the last years. Quite a few pharma companies turned up. 5. You can get into the environmental section of non-core companies which offer a pay higher than IT companies. 6. As for teachers, there are two sides to every coin so just get hold of a senior and you will get the teacher of your choice. About placements - Biotechnology placements are very few. Most of the biotech graduates go for IT field. There is a reason for it. Look at placements at VIT university, you will find companies like Accenture, Wipro, TCS hiring people in hundreds. Biotech companies hire in single digits among hundreds of applicants. All the lab skills, science subjects you studied may not really help you to earn money after graduation. Few people will make it among hundreds to the core companies. But if you are ultimately going into IT companies, what is the use of studying biotech.
