If you have a keen interest in chemistry and you are thinking that Chemical Engineering is all about chemistry then you can be wrong. Chemical Engineering is not all about chemistry, it is something like an amalgam of chemistry and applied physics and other things. So, first, research and choose your branch wisely. Now coming to the question, IIT-Kanpur is one of the best colleges in our country and it is not advisable to lose any seat in the prestigious institute. Some of the recruiters are: Reliance Industries Ltd. Essar Oil Limited. Deepak Fertilizers and Petrochemicals Corp. Ltd. Gujarat Gas Company Limited. Gujarat Alkalies & Chemicals Ltd. Reliance Petroleum Limited. Arofine Polymers Ltd. Colour-Chem Ltd. Opportunities are everywhere, you just need to find them. Just as it had been said, there are ways everywhere in the field of engineering. If you want a core job after the graduation, let me tell you some facts which I gathered from the internet. The average package is about 8 LPA and the percentage of students placed every year is around 76%.

Being in IIT you have already ensured yourself of the best placement any engineering college in India can provide you. Placements at IIT, Roorkee is as good as any other IIT in the country in the branch of chemical engineering other than IIT-BHU the college to start a chemical engineering course in the country first. In 2015 the average placement for chemical engineering branch in IIT, Roorkee was around Rs 8.1 lakhs while the highest package being offered to the students was Rs 18 lakhs. Now in the year 2017, we see a rise in the placement of chemical engineering where the average placement package of the students in chemical engineering remained the same while the highest placement being offered by ITC was around Rs 22 lakhs. So if you are considering to take up chemical engineering at IIT, Roorkee, you shouldn't be in doubt and go ahead with it any day any time. Also, the placements for B.Tech + M.Tech students in chemical engineering specialization in hydrocarbon was compared to the main branch with the highest package being offered of Rs 17 lakhs. Hope this answers your question.

IIT, Roorkee though is not the best IIT but is best for the chemical department after IIT, Madras. When it comes to placements the average placements here is around Rs 10 lakhs and believe me one can easily get more if he works hard constantly. The highest package may reach to Rs 20 lakhs and more depending on the need of the company. The most you work hard the more he/she has chances of getting placed in a very good company or can even get global placement. The chemical science branch is growing rapidly and building new career options for fresh aspirants. Also to achieve something follow your passion, not money. So ending with my words, these are the statics and hope it helped you. Thank you.
