Being one of the top IITs, Indian institute of technology Kanpur Never faced placement problem in any branch. Civil engineering is very good there. But core job opportunity is less. However, you will be non-core jobs. Last year, the highest package offered was 21 lakhs per annum and average package was 10.5 lakhs per annum. Lowest package offered was 4.4 lakhs per annum. IIT Kanpur is among the top 5 universities in India and being in Indian Institute of Technology it ensures you of the best placements and faculty that the country can provide you of. As of the Year 2017 36 students enrolled for placements in the college of Civil department and only two of the students got placed in the core companies, offering them up a package of around 5 to 6 lacs. While the remaining 34 students got placed in non-core companies with the pay package of around 8 to 9 lacs, with mostly being IT companies for marketing firms, banking jobs. A total batch placement percentage of hundred percent was seen for the batch of 2017 of Civil department and only 7% of the same got placed under core companies. Hence, I would recommend you to not to join the college if core placement is the only parameter you are judging it on. Rest be assured that even though you fail to do well in academics, still the college ensures you of a decent paying job of around 8 lacs. I hope this helps. Cheers!
