Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati is the sixth Indian Institute of Technology established in India. Internationally, IIT Guwahati was ranked 501-550 in the QS World University Rankings of 2018. In India, among engineering colleges, it ranked 7th by India Today in 2017 and 8th by The Week. It was ranked 7th among engineering colleges in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2017 and 8th overall. Coming to placement; The placement cell is a very dedicated cell at IITG. The placements are very good, with some branches like Design getting up to 100% placed students. Last year, the average package for Design was 16 LPA, with highest going up to 30 LPA. Companies like Microsoft had a CTC of 21 LPA. More than 100 companies visit campus during the placement season, for varying profiles. For the B.Tech Course, overall placement percentage was around 60 percent last year. Packages vary from company to company, generally more packages are given for software development roles. Average package varies from department to department. The department of computer science and engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati was established in the year 1995 and gives an outstanding research environment complemented by perfection in teaching. The Department offers B.Tech, M.Tech., Ph.D. and Dual (M.Tech. + Ph.D.) degrees. The Department has a comprehensive curriculum on topics related to all aspects of Computer Hardware and Software with an emphasis on practical learning. Okay, this was about the branch. We are here to talk about Placements. To no surprise, IIT-Guwahati CSE placements are one of the best in engineering. The most preferred branch has excellent placements. There are tons of recruiters which are open for CSE, almost all. There are international tech giants which come to IIT Guwahati for hiring. To get an idea, read these names- Dell, Flipkart, Google, HP, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Oracle, ServiceNow, Snapdeal, Thornton Tomasetti, Visa Inc., Vodafone, Walmart, etc. The highest placement from CSE was about $120,000 per annum which counts about 70 LPA in INR. The average domestic package is 17 LPA. The placement percentage is about 93%. All this makes this programme a good choice.
