When it comes to IIT Roorkee situated in the Himalayas with 160-year-old paradise, the brand value is so rich and hence, the placement has to be some extraordinary and so does it live up to expectations. As per the year 2016, placements statistics have been shared below. Total no. of companies visisted:- 125 Number of offers: 456 Average package: 7 LPA Median package:- 14 LPA Maximum Package: 55 LPA by Samsung Pre-placement offers or PPOs:-102 companies recruited students from Electronic communication engineering specialisation. some prominent names are the regular recruiters For ECE engineering:- Philips Micromax Blackberry Bajaj Electrical Havells Zuarii Engineering Thermax LT Ramboll DRDo HAL Boeing Airbus Vedanta Aditya Birla Reliance Arcelor Mittal Tata Steel Jindal Steel Hindalco Vodafone Huawei Samsung Ericsson IBM Nokia The above names are just glimpses of how the college fares for ECE graduate students, The roles offered are fantastic and some have received management roles also into product management in telecom domain with international opportunities. IIT-Roorkee is one of the old IITs and one of the well-reputed institutes in India, so you don't have to worry about placements. Let's go through its placement report of 2016-17 for ECE engineering. The total percentage of placed students from ECE is around 87% (this is low because the calculations also include students who opted out of placements for higher studies or some other reasons. If we neglect those students it will be above 90%). Going forward, around 13% of the placed students got into core jobs which is not a good metric. Around 85.5% got into IT/Software jobs while around 1.5% got into consulting/finance jobs. The average CTC for ECE was around 16 LPA which again is a good metric. So, the placement scenario looks good for ECE in IIT-Roorkee as such. Don't join any branch or college just because of its placements. Indian Institute of Technology-Roorkee is considered as one of the oldest IITs. It's reputation is very good and placement is just awesome there. Coming to the question part, placements for electronics and communication are very good. In the year 2015, the highest package offered was 25 Lacs per annum and the average package was 10.55 Lacs per annum. This year highest placement for ECE is 16 LPA. The placement drive is still going on, so stats may fluctuate. In the year 2016, 88% students were placed last year. 12% placed in the core companies, 87% got placed in software companies and remaining 1% got placed in finance ,analytics and consulting. The average package of under graduate course (ECE) was 15 Lacs per annum and in integrated dual degree (IDD) course was 13 Lacs per annum. You may visit the link for more details:
