National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal (NIT Surathkal), earlier known as REC Karnataka, was established in the year 1960 and is located in an area of 295 acres. Overall, placement of NIT Surathkal is good mainly student got placement of less than 10 lakhs per annum, but in mining the record are not so good student get average salary here are the few data of Placement in Mining Engineering. National Institute of Technology, Surathkal is very good in terms of placement. But, like every engineering college mining engineering department is still facing placement issue due to current market conditions. My cousin recently completed his B.Tech from NIT (Surathkal) with ECE. Placement in any other branches is very good there. In fact mining students placed in IT sector has bagged high packages. But core placement is very few. ISM, Dhanbad too is facing Placement problem for mining engineering branch. Here is the detailed Placement drive: Highest salary offered: 11.5 LPA in 2015. Next year it was around 5-6 LPA. Minimum salary offered: 4 lakhs per annum. You can also join NIT Rourkela in mining department. We have also good placement records. Most reputed Companies like Hindalco, Tata steel, Coal India Ltd, Hindustan Zinc Limited, Vedanta visit here. Salary package is also good, average package is 12 LPA. For more information you can login to:

NITs are the premier institutes for engineering after the IITs. NIT, Surathkal is one of the top NITs and is known across the India. According to the National Institutional, Ranking Framework NIT, Surathkal ranks 22nd among the engineering colleges in India. For mining engineering, last year (2016-17) out of 32 students who applied for placements from mining department 21 students were placed meaning 65 percent placement for mining which is quite a good number for mining engineering. For mining engineering, the minimum salary offered was Rs 3.3 lakhs per annum. The average salary was Rs 5.6 lakhs per annum and the maximum salary was Rs 9.3 lakhs per annum. All these figures suggest pretty good placements at NIT, Surathkal.
