Now let's see what is naval architecture and shipbuilding is all about Naval architecture, also known as naval engineering, is an engineering discipline dealing with the engineering design process, shipbuilding, maintenance, and operation of marine vessels and structures. Founded in 1971 and named as University of Cochin, it was the emblem of responsibility from the Government of Kerala towards the new scientific policy resolution adopted by the Central Government later on. By giving recognition to several well-established premier research institutions in the country and the Southern Naval Command of Indian Navy, the University has brought within its reach the resources available in these institutions also to the use of its academic community. So, Cochin University of Science and Technology is one of the several colleges which provide B.Tech degree in Naval Architecture and Ship Building. The branch is not a core branch but it all depends upon your interest and if you are willing, there is always a way. The placements are satisfactory, not at par with those of CSE and other core branches but decent. About 66% students get placed in the on-campus placement season. There was not much information available on the website but the average package is around 4.8 lac per annum.

Coaching University of Science and Technology is a good place to be at and is known for its undergraduate students all around the world. It is among one of the few colleges offering naval architecture and shipbuilding courses in India which makes it one of a kind college in the country. Now coming to your question, just recently I had a look at a newspaper article showing the best placement package of the 2017 batch of naval and architecture shipbuilding course to be more than Rs 40 lakhs but that was given to just one student. While the placement in the previous year was a bit low due to oil crisis all over the country but that was the scene for all the colleges offering this course and even the off-campus placements too. Hence the placement in this field is totally dependent on the conditions of oil production in the country, transportation, and foreign investment. But if you are really interested in the course then placement is not a factor to be scared of. I hope this helps. Good luck!!

Naval architecture in CUSAT is very good. Infact it is one of the most sought branches in CUSAT. If you get a very good rank in CUSAT common admission test then only you will get admission in naval architecture. Also, the seats get filled up pretty quickly. It is one of the most demanded branches of CUSAT. Talking about placements, the placements are excellent and the department is known all over the world for its undergraduates. In the recent time, I've heard that placements were little dull, but it happened in all institutions due to the oil crisis. Some sources you can look up:
