As per the year 2015, placements statistics have been shared below. Total no. of companies visited:- 127 Number of offers: 544 Average package: 7Lpa Median package:- 12lpa Maximum Package: 26lpa Pre-placement offers or PPOs:- 95 companies recruited students from production cum industrial engineering specialization. Some prominent names are the regular recruiters for industrial engineering:- Zuarii Engineering Thermax LT Ramboll DRDo HAL Boeing Airbus Vedanta Aditya Birla Reliance Arcelor Mittal Tata Steel Jindal Steel Hindalco Cairn India Shell Schlumberger Axis Bank Jomorgan Morgan Stanley Credit Suisse The above names are just glimpse predictor of how the college fares for Production graduation students, The roles offered are fantastic and some have received management roles also, the college provides seamless dedicated support for the development of soft skills, core certification courses in SCM and TQM, aptitude skills for the best opportunity.

IIT-Roorkee is one of the old IITs and one of the well-reputed institutes in India, so you don't have to worry about placements. According to the NIRF's ranking, it is ranked at 6th position which is really impressive. Let's go through its placement report of 2016-17 for Production engineering. The total percentage of placed students from Production is around 65% (this is low because the calculations also include students who opted out of placements for higher studies or some other reasons. If we neglect those students it will be above 85%). Going forward, around 22% of the placed students got into core jobs which is really a good metric. Around 22% got into IT jobs while around 56% got into consulting/finance jobs. The average CTC for Production Engineering was around 11.24 LPA which again is a good metric. So, the placement scenario looks good for Production Engineering in IIT-Roorkee as such. Don't join any branch or college just because of its placements. Try to find what you are passionate about and pursue that branch. Source:

Production and industrial engineering in IIT-Roorkee is a smaller branch of 60 students for the year 2017 with the least number of faculty members among all the branches in IIT-Roorkee. It is a one-of-a-kind post because you get to study a lot of management subjects along with the technical once. The placement scenario of production and industrial engineering branch is same as for mechanical branch because the same companies for which mechanical students are allowed to sit for the recruitment production and industrial engineering students. That being said most of the placements are done in the consulting sector which cross the average placement package offered to the students of match 2017 to be around 7 to 8 lacs at a minimum. At the same time being in an IIT can ensure you the best of the placements. Any college can provide you one in India and so is the reason why one must take up the same branch at IIT-Roorkee if he/she is really passionate about the branch. Cheers. Hope this helps.
