As a software engineer, it is expected that you would teach at engineering colleges. At the B.Tech level, you have fields like computer science and information technology that are best suited for you. First thing is that you need to pursue Masters, ideally, Masters in technology or M.Tech as almost all private or public engineering colleges require atleast a Master's. Also, you need to pick your subject of specialisation. Once you have pursued and successfully completed your Masters, you may apply for teaching job as assistant professor at several engineering colleges. For teaching at the top engineering colleges like IIT, NIT, BITS, etc. You may have to pursue PhD or should clear the national eligibility test. This is the ideal way to rise up to faculty level at top colleges.

For Assistant Professor, 1. Excellent Academic record as defined by the respective university with at-least 55 percent marks at the Master Degree 2. The candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SET. For Associate Professor 1. Good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree 2. A Master’s Degree with at least 55 per cent marks 3. A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research

If you have post-graduation qualification then you can apply for the National Eligibility Test which is conducted to recruit candidates for the lectureship or professorship in the top most colleges or institutes of India. As you are experienced in software engineering you can check any vacancy in the selected colleges which fill the vacant seat in the institute based on the experience or knowledge. If teaching is your passion then I will suggest you to go for the post-graduation and then apply for the UGC NET or CSIR NET exam. visit:
