To become a college principal, you should have at-least following qualifications 1) A Master's degree with at least 55% marks. 2) A Ph.D. degree in concerned/allied/relevant discipline in the institution concerned with evidence of published work and research guidance. 3) Associate Professor/Professor with a total experience of fifteen years of teaching/research/administration in universities, colleges and other institutions of higher education.I hope my answer will help you!

As per current UGC guidelines, a candidate is required to clear NET/ SET/ SLET to become an Assistant Professor. In addition, UGC has specified following qualifications for candidates to seek direct recruitment for the role of College Principal: (a) A Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading systems is followed) by a recognized university. (b) A Ph.D degree in concerned/ allied/ relevant discipline(s) in the Institution concerned with evidence of published work and research guidance. (c) Associate Professor/ Professor with total experience of fifteen years of teaching/ research/ administration in universities, colleges and other institutions of higher education (d) A Minimum score stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API). Performance Based Appraisal System PBAS.
