To get into research field you need to be sound in either maths/chemistry/physics. One option you can complete your graduation and than go for Masters and than PhD. Doing graduation from institute like IISER, Raman Institute or IITs will help you a lot .Doing Masters from top IITs or IISC Bangalore will be better. Another option is you can go for MS in some good foreign university and pursue PhD under a professor, MS from a foreign university have more opportunities in research field. You can become a scientist by an exhaustive study. It is what we call research. You try to assess your capacity for hard work and how you can increase it. Your work should be qualitative also. If you can be complete in your study, your work is finished. It is not just doing some job.
