Preparation can be of three types: self, self plus coaching, coaching. It depends on whether you are a working professional or a student. So, if you are working you have to prepare either by self-using the correspondence booklets or you can take the option of taking weekend coaching classes. Also, you can buy some famous books used for the preparation of MBA entrance exams. But if you are a student then you have a good amount of time to prepare. So you can use the correspondence course and books initially for self-preparation and later can join coaching classes for brushing up your preparation with added techniques. So, any MBA entrance exam has generally three sections- quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning & data interpretation and verbal reasoning along with the study of general current affairs. So, depending on your strengths, weakness and speed, prepare the three sections accordingly and nail the exam. Both written and verbal communication is vital for GMAT, so prepare this part thoroughly.

Here are a few tips to crack the examination in the provided time: Six months can make or change the game. Time management is very important at every single point of time till the final day and even on the day. Set your plan agile and keep buffer time for revision and solving mock test papers. Keep positive! Maintain a good balance between your accuracy and solving time. Be focused and calm. For the last month keep all the formulas and tricks handy and revise on a daily basis. Remember: - Make daily/weekly targets and pen down each. - Revise the syllabus as per study plan. - Solve previous year questions as per time frame guidelines of the actual exam. This will give you a look and feel of the actual exam. - Manage your time well. - Keep calm and stay cool.

GMAT is known as the gatekeeper of MBA is no pushover. Preparation needs to take place over a good number of months in order to give yourself the best chance of success. The number of concepts that are asked in GMAT questions is finite. Therefore, a good method to improve and reduce your white areas is to keep a learning diary. This means, one should write down every unknown prep question and try to understand the correct answer and concept behind them. It is not only necessary to learn and know all the concepts and tricks, but it is also essential to be confident and quick in using them. This means doing quick calculations in the quant section. To improve this skill, it is better to have shorter, daily training sessions rather than cramming during the weekend. One can get good GMAT mock test from many sources. The good thing about prep tests used is that most of them use an adaptive question algorithm as the real test does. Therefore, it is a good method to use the same prep test multiple times, because as you improve, you will face different problems. One should always know the GMAT test areas in which one is weak. Nevertheless, a big mistake is to focus only on one weakness for too great a period of time, since GMAT knowledge can also be forgotten easily and quickly. A good method can be to set a certain base level of prep questions in each category to do on each day. Hope it helps. All the best.
