For joining as a meteorologist in Indian Air Force, there is special entry named as metrological entry who is minimum qualification is post graduate.

Indian Air Force hires Meteorology branch Commission offers as Permanent Commission and Short Service Commission officers. IAF advertise requirement of Met officers in leading papers. Eligibility criteria to apply in Met branch is as follows: "Post Graduate Degree in any Science stream / Mathematics / Statistics / Geography / Computer Applications / Environmental Science / Applied Physics / Oceanography / Meteorology / Agricultural Meteorology / Ecology & Environment / Geo-physics / Environmental Biology with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together (Provided Maths and Physics were studied at Graduation Level, with a minimum of 55% marks in both)." Shortlisted candidates are called for testing at one of the Air Force Selection Boards (AFSBs). Those to clear SSB are invited for Medical and then based on merit and number of open vacancies are called for training as Air Force Academy at Hyderabad to become Met officer in IAF.
