MA Disaster Management offered by Tata Institute of Social Science Mumbi is the best formal educational qualification in India. As are currently serving in Indian Army and may not able to do full time course it is suggested that you evaluate Post Graduate Diploma in Disaster Management (PGDDM) offered by IGNOU to meet your requirements. The major objectives of the Programme are to: (a) Provide comprehensive knowledge to the learners on disaster preparedness, mitigation and rehabilitation; (b) Enable the learners to carry out risk assessment and vulnerability analysis; (c) Generate community awareness, and strengthen institutional mechanism for community mobilisation and participation in disaster management; (d) Develop communication skills for disaster preparedness; (e) Create greater awareness about effective disaster response in various emergency situations; (f) Equip learners with tools for meeting emergency medical requirements; (g) Incorporate gender sensitive disaster management approach; and (h) Inculcate new skills and sharpen existing skills of government officials, voluntary activists, development professional and elected representative for effective disaster management PGDDM is delivered in distance learning mode and can be completed in 1 to 4 years duration. Any graduate in any discipline is eligible to do the course. Course material provided by university is of international standard.
