The Mathematics section is scored on a scale of 200-800 The Critical Reading section is scored on a scale of 200-800 The Essay is scored separately on a scale of 2-8 The entire SAT test score ranges from 400-1600 The exam in itself cannot guarantee you of admission to the college, but is take in consideration for you to grab a seat. It gets 60% of the job done. The essays are optional, and you might choose to write these, if you are confident enough, as some colleges still give preference to essays. Also, the cost certainly depends on the cost you wish to go to and the marks that you score in your SAT examination. If you happen to score a really good score, you might be offered scholarships and fee waivers as well, as more and more colleges would like you to take up the course at their institution.
