The Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification is accepted worldwide as the most prestigious networking certification in the industry. CCIE and Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE) certifications were established to assist the industry in distinguishing the top echelon of internetworking experts worldwide and to assess Expert-level infrastructure network design skills worldwide. These certifications are accepted worldwide as the most prestigious networking certifications in the industry. The CCIE and CCDE community has established a reputation of leading the networking industry in deep technical networking knowledge and are deployed into the most technically challenging network assignments. The program is currently divided into six different areas of expertise or "tracks". One may choose to pursue multiple CCIE tracks in several different categories of Cisco technology: Routing and Switching, Service Provider, Security, Collaboration, Data Center and Wireless. CCIE candidates must first pass a written qualification exam and then the corresponding hands-on lab exam. Though there are no formal requirements to take a CCIE certification exam, an in-depth understanding of the topics on the exams and three to five years of job experience are expected before attempting certification.

A CCIE was established to recognize the top performers and experts in networking domain worldwide. It is an exam with good reputation and a very great opportunity in near future. If you possess industrial experience for 34 years then it is an additional advantage for getting an appropriate job role post CCIE certification. But I would advise you to start with CCNA training in the domain you want to pursue followed by CCNP training. You may or may not appear for the certification exams for the following courses. This should follow the CCIE training post which a student may appear for certification exam. A CCIE certification exam is conducted in two steps: a 2-hour written exam is undertaken which consists of 90110 questions. After clearing the first exam follows the 8-hour lab exam and then a candidate is certified. The lab exam must be cleared before 18 months of clearing the written exam. The CCIE exam has no pre-requisites and could be undertaken directly without having any other certification. A candidate is recommended to have associate level training in R&S if s/he is opting for any other track. There are 6 tracks offered at present: Routing and Switching, Security, Data Center, Collaboration, Wireless and Service Provider.
