A candidate must have secured minimum 55% aggregate marks in his post-graduation to become eligible for NET Exam. As you scored 58% marks in postgraduation, it confirms your eligibility for the post of Assistant professor. However, for JRF, you must check the other condition I. e. age norms.

Yes, you are eligible for appearing in UGC NET Exam. You have completed your post-graduation with 58% and according to the norms of the UGC NET Exam, one should have PG Degree with a minimum of 55% marks for applying in the examination. Before to apply, you should remember that if you want to apply for Junior research fellowship (JRF) then your age must not be more than 30 years.
