The job opportunities in different streams differs each year. Sometimes it's too high and sometimes low. But mechanical and civil engineering has constant opportunities since years. You can choose between them.

If you want private jobs then CSE is good but for government jobs you should opt for civil engineering.

if u want to go in pvt sector den u can go for cse. but if u r little worry that pvt jobs are not secured den u can go for core branches. jst for example , u take civil. den u can go for pvt jobs IN companies like L & T. nd altough u can give gate exam after which u ll be called by various PSU'S. even after cse u can give gate but their seats are less in comparison to civil.

In the end of this, most probably you will know what to do. Honestly I won't say that all the branches are equal and have same scope and college doesn't matter it's you and your interest. Yes your interest is important but it does matter which branch you choose in which college but if you have applied for VIT or SRM these are fairly good enough colleges to get you placed. Also you can go for good state level engg colleges. Do some research on net about those colleges. Now your doubts about branches, I will say mechanical, civil, CSE, IT, electrical these are core branches that will never let you become jobless if you're good in any of these branches. Pasting from my another answer:- None branch is too hard to learn and study I know students with 60% in rbse completing b.tech with 79% and qualifying GATE, so suggest you to go for the branch in which you can do your best and you can do best if you're interested in it. Now to help you decide your interest let me give you brief knowledge about each branch:- In civil engineering you will learn how to build bridges, sky scrapers etc. Detailed knowledge about the building structure.Civil is hard if you are not good in making charts. As much as I know. And for me making chart was the last thing that I wanted to do In my school time. But it will be easiest if you are good at it. CS/IT as we all know is all about computer science and its working. The difference between CS and IT is that in CS you will have to go through the hardware part of computer.Difficult part of it are coding and it's languages. Mechanical is about machinery. Like every kind of machinery from robots to the working of brakes in trains. And difficult part is physics. In electrical you will learn about the devices which comes in operation with the knowledge of integrated circuits (IC) which you would have seen on cassettes of video game and many more devices. But still if there is nothing like interest or something then don't worry I assure you that you're not the only one. In that case priority should be CSE/IT> Mechanical> electrical>Civil as per scope and placement, according to me but it's not a fast line. But in my personal opinion you don't need to worry, make a decision on your will and one day you will find yourself looking back and wondering why you were so worried. Hope I helped. Sorry for long post. And Good Luck.
