A general trend is to prefer an engineering stream but in an AICTE approved, preferably accredited institute affiliated to a reputed university or an institute of national importance. Again it depends on where you wish to see yourself after the completion of the programme. Maybe, you prefer to see yourself as a system analyst or a programming expert, MCA is not bad at all. It is possible to do a Ph.D. after the completion of your Masters degree and the clearance of NET or equivalent.

The second one is better and takes more time than MCA+BCA combination. Spending more time means more acceptance. It is a suggestion that a B.Tech and M.Tech will also bring safety to career even before Ph.D. You can get into teaching just after M.Tech.
