If Maths is your main subject, then it is compulsory for you to clear it.

6th subject is generally taken when the board has a best 5 out of 6 subjects method of calculating percentage. So, if you want to go for any further courses, where your mathematics subject marks is required, then you can apply to appear for the compartmental examination. Otherwise, it is not required for you to pass in the 6th subject.

To pass the main subject is important because maths isn't an additional subject. Yes, it is important.

Yeah u need to pass in all 6 subjects in 10th standard .otherwise u may not get admission or mayb declared as fail
