There are multiple job opportunities available in the field of computer science and IT. As per NASSCOM, Indian IT Industry revenues grew by 13% in FY2015 and it added 2,30,000 employees in FY15. IT industry exports grew by 12-14% and domestic market by 15-17% in FY2016. India's IT-BPM industry is projected to grow ~8% in FY2017 to USD 154 billion. In light of the very disruptive emerging technologies, the industry is re-imagining itself to become the Digital Solutions Partner for the world. CSE & IT graduates from top engineering colleges have excellent career opportunities. Following are career options in the field of computer science/IT: (a) Development and Testing: In order to have a technical career in IT, you require educational qualifications such as B.Tech computer science/ IT, BCA-MCA, B.Sc-M.Sc computer science/IT. (b) IT infrastructure support including Desktop, server, networking, Telecom support. Most of these roles are filled by Electronics and Science graduates or Diploma and degree holders. (c) Project Management: Technical Professional grow into the role of Project Management with Certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, etc. after a few years of development or testing experience. Some MBA IT graduates get Project Management opportunities directly. (d) Business Analysis: Subject matter experts with domain experience in functional areas such as BFSI, Healthcare, Travel & Transportation, etc. can become BA. Most of the BA are with MBA background with BA Certification such as IIBA or BCS. (e) Business Development: MBA graduates and experienced IT professional have opportunities in IT industry in PreSales support, Sales & Marketing and Account Management. (f) IT support role in quality, technical writing, customer service engineer, etc. These roles are filled with lower education profile professional such as BCA graduates.

Yes, a career in computers is worth. As technology is changing at a rapid pace one needs to keep himself/herself up to date with the technology to sustain in the industry. Newer technologies like Big Data, Hadoop, SAP and Android are exploiting the needs of humans. Developing newer software at a rapid pace and cut-throat competition has made this sector desirable for most of the students. Companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Tesla and IBM are doing R&D and coming up with new and innovative products. We can see the pay scales of engineers getting into these big brands have been offered hefty packages. Any person with a Computer Science & Engineering degree has numerous job opportunities. The person can be appointed as Software Developer, Hardware Engineer, System Analyst, System Designer, Networking Engineer, Database Administrator (DBA) and Web Developer. So, a career in computer science in really worth and one needs to keep up with the changing skills to maintain the superiority over others.
