There are many advantages associated with pursuing company secretary. It is a professional course. If you are being hired by a settled company you can reach to managerial levels. It is always in demand. After engineering and with relevant experience you can easily acquire job in countries like UK. There are less chances of Engineering students getting appointed as CS in India. Any engineering graduate can earn Company Secretary professional qualification but it will not be aligned to its basic educational qualification. CS may not ever have the opportunity to use engineering knowledge and skills in executing its role and responsibility as a CS. In case you not technically oriented and want to change your career stream you may do CS but it will involve another min 3+ years of further education.

Company Secretary, as both an independent professional and an employee, is a professionally and financially rewarding career. A company secretary is a senior position in a private sector company or public sector organisation, normally in the form of a managerial position or above. The company secretary is responsible for the efficient administration of a company, particularly with regard to Corporate Governance ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and for ensuring that decisions of the board of directors are implemented. The company secretary ensures that an organisation complies with relevant legislation and regulation, and keeps board members informed of their legal responsibilities and also ensures that board of directors looks after shareholders interest. He is legal signatory to all company documents.
