First major difference between the two as the name suggests ECE is more of a communication-centred branch involving a core of electronics. Whereas, EEE is more inclined to electrical engineering aspects like power system and machines. The other difference is that ECE has a lot of subjects involving programming and coding whereas these things are not that much in EEE. EEE involves major subjects of Electrical engineering power & distribution system, control system, machines drives, power electronics, analogue signal processing, networks etc. ECE majorly contains subjects like digital electronics, digital image processing, data communication networks, digital and analogue communication, microelectronics and VLSI design. There are many subjects which are common to both ECE and EEE like control system, electromagnetic theory, signal and systems, networks, analogue electronics, etc. EEE is a rather tough branch as compared to ECE. ECE is far more popular for a long time. ECE open paths to IT and computer sector as well whereas EEE provides good opportunities in power and core electrical and instrumentation sectors. Both these branches provide ample opportunities in research and teaching fields in India and abroad. There are a good number of public sector jobs as well.

See from the jobs point of view, the best is EEE instead of ECE as there are quality placements in the ECE but in EEE there are quantity placements but this also depends on the college.
