With India's economy and GDP booming in a positive direction, it won't be that difficult to say, that we should produce more number of mangers as required. This is because market is volatile and hence we need to understand, that it will be a tough task for people to get jobs. But, better booming and providing better directions can be useful. At this time, all the sectors are required to understand, what it is, that can make themselves sustainable and more useful. This can be done, if we have better mangers and by better mangers we mean better MBA students who can tell the real time application and understand the real time simulation to work the organization and work in better scenario. India at this point of time should produce qualitative mangers who can not only understand the market, but also come up with solutions to counter economic crisis and take the country towards a right path.

We need managers who genuinely understand markets, their relationship to the public sector, and the philosophical, cultural, and social meanings of business growing global influence. We need leaders who fully grasp that markets, while highly efficient, are not fair, kind, or wise. The current market price, while efficient, is not essentially just it can, in fact, be rather cruel. For example, when a large retail chain comes to a town, pushing small businesses to close. We need leaders who are ready to face the trials of growing income inequality, unemployment, environmental influence, and cultural homogenization that modern business practices do not yet appropriately address. That's why India needs more, not less, business knowledge. It depends on it. So, the answer to this question is no.

I personally think we need many more. India has some core economic issues: 1) High Unemployment: India's youth has massive unemployment rates, bordering at 30%, more jobs need to be created in companies. 2) Few companies: India has only 1.5 million registered companies v/s 18 million in the US and 76 million in China. 3) Shallow equity markets: India's equity markets are 1/4th of Japans and 1/15th of the US - a deep equity market helps growth. There are a few solutions to these: 1) Expanding companies: B-School students have been found to be excellent at building companies. 2) Creating companies: Some of the world’s largest companies have been founded by MBAs. 3) Raising capital: A large number of private equity/venture capital firms are run / assisted by MBAs. While this is not an endorsement for an MBA being the panacea for all problems, there is definitely merit in having business educated people in a country that needs more businesses.
