M.Com is a two year postgraduate degree program to provide the student with a wide range of specialized skills in area of Commerce, Accounting and management. It also helps in preparing the students for business enterprises in Account and Finance roles. M.Com itself may not be a sufficient qualification for long term career growth. Graduate may have to do professional certifications such as CFA, CMA, LOMA etc for long term career growth and opportunities. MBA after M.Com gives a big push to career even in financial vertical. MBA is a generic course on business management and administration and it focuses on managerial functional areas of business such as accounting, finance, marketing, human resources, and operations. MBA exposes students in all management functions for all kind of industries from FMCG to core technology companies. MBA is an all-purpose degree which provides choose to graduates to choose his career options based on his interest, strength in management functional area and personality traits. MBA from top B Schools have career opportunities in the field of consulting, Business Analyst, Pre sales support, Project Managers, Functional Managers, operations management in private, government, PSU and NGOs. MBA provides wider options in different functions and various types of industries. Although you must choose you educational qualifications based on your interest area, I will recommend MBA even after M.Com for better career opportunities and growth.

M.Com degree and MBA degree, both are post-graduation degrees and hence there is no point of doing a post-graduation degree twice. The best idea for you would be to do MBA directly after completion of your Bachelor's degree in the commerce stream because doing M.Com before MBA would be a sheer waste of two years of your time. If you feel that you are not ready to do an MBA degree right after the completion of your Bachelor's degree then the best thing to do is gain some work experience. Work experience will also serve as an add-on while getting a good college for MBA. As per me, you can first do MBA and after that, if you wish to pursue M.Com then it's your choice. After completing the Bachelor's degree, there is always a good value for higher degree courses and MBA has a wider scope than M.Com. I think that after MBA, you do not need to pursue M.Com degree because MBA is the final option for a student to pursue. While pursuing MBA, you can choose the best specializations with some MBA holder's good advice because your career after MBA is mainly depended upon the specialization which you complete your MBA in. You will get a job on the basis of your specialization only.

Pursuing MBA in the area of choice is always advisable and beneficial for the aspirants. However, instead of going through M.Com one will be benefited more by directly pursuing MBA. MBA finance covers almost all the aspects of Accountancy. It gives an added approach to see the things with a different perspective and resolve the challenges with all the required managerial skills. It is therefore advisable to go for MBA directly.
