My thinking is rather different. Management is it self a domain. After becoming a Manager of an organization, it does not matter much as to what is his undergraduate background. Moreover for becoming an engineer - he has already established his ability of managing/encountering a huge syllabus within a specified tenure of 4 years. It is totally your interest to select the specialization. No need of thinking over sustainability in one field over another. Best Wishes.

Nothing as such. There are ample number of examples where people from various engineering backgrounds have sustained very glorious careers in finance. Although it is recommended to do some courses in finance over the time like CFA etc. to have an edge over other students. But that can be done while pursuing your MBA too. All the best!

It is rather quite easier in comparison to all other majors. Your comfort with numbers and excel skills should help you. Along with the education in MBA that is all that you will need in your career in finance (believe me). Also, the fact that we as engineers have gone through the grunt of slogging off just before exams because an Investment Banking role will entail exactly that. Overall, except CA's, who have done most of it, engineers are the best bankers out there.
