Yes, if you want to get a job in CBSE School. The CTET exam is conducted by central board of secondary education to determine the eligibility criteria of the candidates who want to get a job in the CBSE affiliated schools as a teacher. CTET is a certificate test means after clearing the CTET exam one is provided an eligible certificate through which you can apply in any government or private CBSE School. And, based on the vacancy and your performance in the interview, you will be selected as a teacher in one of the CBSE affiliated schools. So, if you want to go for the CBSE teacher profession then, yes, it is necessary to sit for the CTET examination and clear it with more than minimum cut-off marks.

CTET Central Teacher eligibility Test is a test conducted by the Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India to the CBSE . CBSE conducts this test in order to recruit teachers to schools under the central government such as KVS, NVS; Tibetan schools etc. This may also be applicable to private unaided schools. The essential criteria for this exam is as follows: The candidate must be a BA / B.Sc / B.Com graduate. It has been decided by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) to include B.Com holders also to this category from this year onwards for appointment as teachers from classes I VIII. Apart from degree, B.Ed degree is also necessary for teacher positions. The minimum qualification for classes 1- V is to have 50% marks and pursuing final year B.Ed. The minimum qualification for classes 6-VIII is to have atleast 50% marks passed and pursuing final year B.Ed. The candidates can apply through online or offline. An M.Ed degree will definitely help you and take you far in your career as a teacher. If you have a MEd you will be posted as Post graduate Teacher (PGT) for teaching in Classes till 12th. This will further help you in getting promotion and while retirement; you may retire as a Principal. Although CTET does not is not actually necessary, however it is an advisable choice.
