Flying is for birds and men do not fly. We have made sophisticated birds who cater for our travel needs. Since the first flight when Wright Be made the first aircraft. The risk was always involved. You always risk your life once you lift off from the ground. May it be fighter pilot or a commercial pilot. But trust me nowadays, airplanes are being designed to be the safest and most reliable in the air. Unless pilots do a blunder in the air, there is hardly a risk. These airplanes are designed to talk to the pilot and pilots are trained technically to respond in the correct manner. It is although true that fighter pilots are involved in maneuvers which require a lot more risk as compared to Line Flying in Commercial Aviation. Airplanes nowadays are themselves technically sound to avert emergencies on their own and to alert the pilots of the situation.

Because of their particular role of having to fly their aircrafts in combat situations in the face of the enemy in a war zone, the fighter pilot may face a greater hazard to his or her life. But remember, this happens only when the country goes to war. In peace time, both types of pilots are equally safe or at risk.

Fighter pilot in military is always going to be an extreme level of physical danger that most civilians never experience. A fighter Pilot is in a jet propelled death machine loaded up with a dozen different kinds of munitions, the danger zone is always around them. Therefore, Fighter pilot involves far greater risks to life than that of a commercial pilot. Following are the reasons: (a) Fighter flying, through even insurance companies data is more risky profession than commercial flying. (b) Fighter Pilots are not only exposed to high flying speed dangers, but are exposed to element of enemy air defense systems. (c) High speed manoeuvre leads to high G Forces, which impact human body and may lead to passing out from G-Forces and crashing. (d) Chances of error margin is less, and it has high probability of crashing into another plane. (e) Armament carried by fighter aircraft can malfunction and lead to accidents or even death. (f) Fighter Pilots medical standards are higher in comparison to Commercial pilot. Therefore, fighter pilots may prematurely curtail because of medical conditions.
