MBA is like an open door for all the specialisations. You can learn basic knowledge from everything. You can either learn HR, marketing or finance. Instead of just taking up a certain stream right from the first semester itself and basically job opportunities are equivalent for everyone. Be it general MBA or normal MBA there are many colleges available for MBA. For e.g. PUMBA, Pune. Its cutoff is above 98 %ile and is generally considered to be the most sought after institute after JBIMS, Mumbai and Symbosis. It has the best placement record in terms of marketing and finance. For HR specialization we have SCMHRD, Hinjewadi.

MBA from any institution is useful for skill development, but for exposure, placement factor, it is very important to take admission in top business schools.

Tier 1 colleges are few, so limited number of seats are there and in a country where the population is 1.3 billion you cannot expect every aspiring student to get into IIMS, IIFT and FMS. You should be good to get into these colleges. Tier 2 colleges can also produce good candidates with excellent problem solving minds, innovative ideas and much more. So it’s skillset that matters. If you can develop right kind of attitude and skills during the 2 years’ of MBA you can get rewards and good placement from any college. So it’s not that tier 2 B-school students are not good as compared to Tier 1 because one exam can’t determine who is better. Placement would be dependent on you skills learnt during 2 years of MBA and the qualities you develop during those 2 years.

See, this question's answer can vary person to person. It's about the individual not entirely dependent upon the college or the course. Management is an elite field of education and learning for fresh graduates as well as for professionals with prior work experience. Candidates want to get management training for several goals, such as to improve their soft skills, become good leaders and managers, and enhancing their career prospects to rise up in the organizational hierarchy. However, thousands of MBA pass-out students are unable to fulfill their dreams of a great professional career. In fact, lakhs of students are not employable, as suggested by an ASSOCHAM study. I am not stating this to depress you in any way. This means just one thing. The investment in MBA from a Tier II institute is good enough if you work hard because due to lack of popularity the college may lack in attracting good companies and recruiters. So you have to work hard and develop skills to make you wanted in the industry.
