First of all, ethical hacking has really become a term of mislead. If we see from eagles point of view, there is no existence of such a term. Well, let's not get into that matter. No, cryptography does not come under ethical hacking. It is an art or process of jumbling things so that only intended public can understand it. Cryptography is not something evolved recently. It is being used for ages (according to Wikipedia, the first cipher was witnessed around 1900 BCE). It kept on evolving as time passed by. We can say that Cryptography was there to circumvent hacking (or cracking, to be precise). Cryptanalysis can come under, so-called, ethical hacking. Cryptanalysis is basically studying ciphers or encryption techniques, finding weaknesses in it and trying to crack it.
