The answer varies from how you see yourself, and how easily you can manage the things. Mass communication isn't just about debates and good communication skills, yes it indeed is one of the most important but this doesn't make you a mass communication student. You should always be highly active in your work and should know about what's right and wrong in the situation. You must see posses the skills of a good listener than being a good communicator, you have to have to be unbiased in your views and opinions and must be neutral in your judgements. One must be having the capabilities to complete the work assigned to him/her to be completed on time every time as mass communication jobs have relevant deadlines and everyone have to follow the same as delay may lead to rotten news/details. You should also take proper training and knowledge before you step in this field which can be gained from good mass communication colleges/institutions based in India or abroad.

For individuals with a degree in mass communication, there are numerous opportunities like journalism, public relations, and advertising, as a career. Most important skill is a good command over communication. As you are from humanities, you will be having a good hands on the social issues, basics of economics and language proficiency. Though the field has been around for a long while, there has been a drastic change in the channels of communication. But the basic skills remain same. Top job profiles in this field are - Advertising, Disc Jockey, Film-Making, Journalism, Public Relations, Publishing and Printing, Radio Jockeying, Video Jockeying. Payscales are attractive and high for jobs such as journalist, actor, director, editor, screenwriter, RJ, producer, VJ. Initially, the salary for a mass communication professional could be between 12k- 25k/month depending on individuals and communication skills. As one gain experience, a professional can expect a higher salary in the range of Rs 50k to Rs 1 lac/month per month.
