The discipline involves sub- sections such as Microbiology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Model Organisms, Microscopy, Cytogenetics, Mendelian Genetics & Biometry, Genetic Engineering, Molecular Genetics, Cloning and Biotechnology, among others. B.Sc. in Genetics: Who should opt? Candidates aspiring to pursue the course would ideally be proficient in: Science - Using scientific rules and methods to solve problems. Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Active Learning - Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making. Monitoring - Monitoring/ assessing ones own and other individuals and organizations performances to make improvements or take corrective action. Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. Eligibility for B.Sc. in Genetics The basic criterion of eligibility needed to be met for admission to the course is a Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent qualification from a recognized educational Board, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as main subjects and a minimum aggregate score of 50%.
