No, Automotive design is largely concerned with the development of road vehicles. Automotive designers create concepts using sketches and computer-aided design (CAD) programs for the visual appearance, as well as functional performance, of vehicles. Automotive designers spend the majority of their time working in an office but may occasionally work on production floors where their designs are produced. Like for all other industrial and commercial designers, a bachelor's degree is the most common path to employment. On other hand, automobile engineer will have work more on floorshop and help remove technical obstacles.

Automotive Engineering is a sub-branch of vehicle engineering. It can also be considered as a sub-branch of mechanical engineering that has split from the main branch focusing on the automotive field of study. Automobile engineering focuses on the cars. It specifically deals with the designing of cars, operations in production of cars, designing of engines and fuel management. Thus, automobile engineering can be considered as a sub branch of automotive engineering. However, generally both the branches are used interchangeably to denote a branch dealing with motor vehicles.
