School of Design Studies provides B.Des in UPES. B.Des is an innovative branch which needs to be taught extremely well. This branch in UPES is rated 4/5 by me. Since here you can not change your branch after the foundation classes which is the biggest drawback because one discovers his true potential and interests after those classes only. Yes, you may opt B.Des here. It's a good university for design but not the best. Moreover, a university becomes best by its discipline and rules regulations, not by its course, which are not present here. Good luck.
