I would suggest you to go for engineering as just after Diploma you will not get that much of opportunity from growth point of view.

I think you should pursue lateral entry B.Tech from a reputed university because with Diploma you may not get a lot of success in life.

After successful completion of Diploma in Engineering course, students can either continue further Engineering studies by lateral entry admission in second year of B.Tech or take up entry level jbs in engineering organisation. Diploma holders gets employment as technicians, technologists, supervisors, superintendents, foremen, machinist, workshop technicians, draughtsman, .etc. Diploma in Engineering can do AMIE Section A and B to become graduate engineer for career growth. If you do not have any personal conditions to work, you are advised to seek lateral entry admission in B.Tech second year else you may go for job. If you go for job then you may evaluate doing AMIE.
