Admission in IITs for MCA is by the Joint Admission Test (JAM) for M.Sc. JAM is an admission test to Master of Science (M.Sc.) and other post-graduate science programs at the Indian Institutes of Technology, Indian Institute of Science, and other institutes. The main objective of JAM is to provide admissions to various M.Sc., M.Sc.-Ph.D. dual-degree and other post-graduate programs based on the performance in a single test. Eligibility Requirement (ER) for admissions in IISc and IITs based on JAM is as follows: . (a) All candidates admitted through JAM should have a Bachelor’s degree. (b) At least 55% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC-NCL Category Candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PwD Category Candidates in the qualifying degree. For MCA admissions in IITs, one needs to qualify IIT JAM exam for MCA. The minimum educational qualification is to have a Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics as a subject for at least one year for annual system candidates/ at least two papers of Mathematics for semester system candidates. For Joint Admission Test (JAM), you need to have a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (50% for SC/ ST and OBC) in Bachelor’s degree. The Syllabus for MCA IIT JAM is: 1) Mathematics: Matrices, algebra, differential calculus, integral calculus, differential equation, vector algebra, numerical analysis, and number systems (probability and linear programming) 2) Computer awareness: fundamentals of C language, Boolean algebra and Basic electronic gates. 3) General Awareness Marking scheme: 1/3rd of the marks will be deducted for a wrong answer from the maximum marks allotted to a question.
