If by higher studies you mean Post Graduation then you may opt for job opportunities. If you mean stone certificate course or a Diploma just after school then you should think of higher studies to do a specialisation course.

According to my experience, if you wish to see yourself in a company doing the 10 am to 6 pm job, then pursuing higher studies won't be necessary. Because, the course structure for Bachelor's degree and Master's degree are almost same and what make them different is just the specialization in the field you have chosen. But, if you want to become a lecturer or Professor after you complete your studies, then higher studies are a must thing to opt for. Both the courses have their own benefits and loss. All you need to decide is what you want to become and where do you see yourself after 5 years down the lane. I was a BA mass communication student and started my job in Public Relations towards the end of 3rd year only. Now, I can say I am succeeding and hardly see any PG student here in my company or in the neighborhood companies.

It is completely on the type of opportunity you get. So, if you are already getting fine job after your graduation, or maybe while you are working, give it a shot. It will only add to your profile. Also, then after some work experience, if you go for a higher course in this field, say MBA, you'll be getting better placements and opportunities.
