First of all MBA is not a high pressure program, it’s just you have you push your limits a little and participating in extracurricular activities is never a waste of time. In schools also when we participate in extra activities, we learn something new every time. It adds up to our skills only. So, it would never be a waste of time. It depends on the students how he or she manages his or her task. MBA is all about how a person manages his/her work and completes the assigned task effectively and efficiently. That's what we learn in management. Extracurricular activities add up many qualities to our skills like participating in extra activities will take about your fear of stage or public speaking or make you rid of facing the audience, also help in learn that how work is done in team and what are the qualities of a leader or how to become a leader. This all skills help you in getting jobs also and positively it builds your confidence up. That's why I suggest everyone that we all should be a part of some of these activities while pursuing MBA.

MBA is tough to pursue, no doubt, but it is also said that if you are free in your first year of MBA, you are not doing it right. So, the answer to this question depends totally on what extracurricular activities you are opting for. Also, there are 3 broad categories of things you can do while pursuing MBA: 1) Academics 2) Extracurricular 3) Sleep (of course). You can opt only for 2 out of these 3 broad categories. Now, it is your choice which you want to go for. Highly career-oriented students generally go for academics + extracurricular. Extracurricular activities give you better insights of what is going around you. If you enrol for live projects, you get to the ground and do the practicals of what you have learned in class. Just learning sales and marketing concepts in class is not enough, you learn them only by implementing them in real life. This can be done by joining clubs and committees of your interest and making it flourish through your class concepts. To sum up, I would say extracurricular activities is not waste of time in this competitive world where you have to have edge over others in whichever way possible.

First, not all extracurricular activities are a waste of time. We should know the difference between good and the bad waste of time. Yes, there is something called the good waste of time. Here we are considering wasting time=not working. So, extracurricular activities are a waste of time. What about recharging? Resting? Learning? These activities help us in doing our work efficiently. If you take a nap and go back to work, you would be refreshed. There may be no immediate return, but there may be benefits in the future. What I am indicating to is activities that take up time, but have some possible positive value. Activities that teach you new skills are almost always a good investment of your time. So, extracurricular activities are a part of the life, you will be more stressfree and productive with them. Next time you find yourself wasting time, ask what future benefit you may receive?

Wasting time in extra curricular activity while pursuing a high pressure MBA is not wasting of time but its actually using your time properly even it teaches a lot of things which MBA course try to teach you some of the things which you can learn from extra curricular activities are :- Punctuality, Discipline, Team work, Time management, handling pressure, leadership quality etc which can be taught trough extra curricular activity and learning this things through extra curricular activity would be fun. Even in your resume an extra-curricular activity will help you to gain weight age as the interviewer will thing that you know how to interact with individual and you have an experience how to work in a team. Being a book worm is not what MBA is all about. Involving in social, ethical and cultural programs are very important. Also, give more importance to studies and a small part of time towards extracurricular activities.

Actually getting involved into some extracurricular activities while pursuing MBA or any degree program is not a waste of time. Do you feel so?Let me tell you that if you are involved in these kind of activities you will feel relieved from stress, pressure on your mind will be refreshed and you will be able to perform freely without any stress on your mind, because these days you can pursue a high demanding degree and can perform your best in viz. case studies, presentation, Quizzes, Business activities, etc. All are demanding and one feels pressure at times so in order to release that pressure you have to be involved in some other activities like sports, games, gym, co-curriculum activities, etc.

Extracurricular activities are very important while you do Master of Business Administration. If you go for attending an interview the resume should have some details regarding your extra-curriculars. Always adding involved in extracurricular activities help you interact with your friends, by that you can develop your leadership skills, and moreover, you will be more and more social. Having a socially oriented person will help companies develop better. Even though Master of Business Administration is a tough course with a lot of assignments and presentation involving in extracurricular activities will relieve your stress and tension. Always reading books and becoming a book worm is not what MBA is all about. Involving in social, ethical and cultural programs are very important. Also, give more importance to studies and a small part of time towards extracurricular activities.
