B.Com (Hons) is a 3-year undergraduate degree programme to provide the student with a wide range of skills in the area of commerce, accounting and management. It also helps in preparing the students for business enterprises in account and finance roles. Some universities offers multiple electives and allow students to specialise in a particular subject in a final year. Some legacy universities offer B.Com degree course. B.Com (Hons) is now a de-facto standard accepted degree for jobs. B.Com Hons graduates are employed by BFSI industry as research assistants, Finance and Accounts Executives, Logistics executive in Export & Import. B.Com Hons is a good qualification to seek industry experience before doing MBA. In today's competitive age, B.Com is not a sufficient qualification for a long-term growth oriented career in Finance and Accounting. B.Com Hons graduates may have to gain additional qualifications to enhance their career growth. You have following option after B.Com Hons: (a) M.Com (b) MBA (c) 3 years law degree I.e. LLB (d) MCA if you had Maths in class 12 as a subject (e) Masters in Social work (f) MA Mass Communication (g) Join Government where eligibility criteria is graduation degree (h) Appear for CDS to join Defense Services (I) Appear for Bank PO and clerical services examination (j) Join one-year courses run by private banks and B-Schools (k) PG Diploma in Business Analytics (l) Business Analysis certification from IIBA (m) CA/ CFA/ CMA/ LOMA, etc.

Masters of Commerce (M.Com) This is a two-year programme. Fresh graduates or students who have completed the Final CA programme are eligible for this degree. This is a broad field to study, which covers areas like accounting, actuarial sciences, economics, statistics, finance and others. Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) The ACCA offers the globally recognised Chartered Certified Accountants degree, which is one of the fastest growing qualifications in the world. MBA A Masters degree in business administration is always the most enticing degree for a commerce graduate. Cost Management Accounting (CMA) The CMA degree is offered by the Institute of cost and works accountants of India (ICWAI), and it comprises three levels: CMA foundation, intermediate and final. The salary range depends completely on the job applicant and the kind of job he/she is applying to. The monthly salary can range anywhere between 20,000 Rs. to 80,000 Rs. Alternatively, you can also prepare for CA/CFA side by side for better future prospects. All skilled professionals will find a suitable job in a growing market like India.

B.Com Hons is a highly sought after career option due to the growth and demand for professionals adept in finance related domain and growth of the allied sectors. The career options for B.Com graduates include: 1. MBA- general MBA or an MBA in finance 2. CFA 3. FRM 4. M.Com 5. PhD in quantitative techniques 6. CA- another lucrative option The job prospects are also plenty. If one graduates from a top college with B.Com, MNCs for auditing like KPMG, EnY, Deloitte and investment banks like GS, JP, etc. recruit for business analyst profiles. Also, several public financial services firms and banks recruit such graduates. Finance in itself is a highly lucrative domain to specialise in and for top grads opportunities are plenty.
